World Indoors: Junielle Smith and Brianna Lyston into women’s 60m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jonielle Smith ran a personal best 7.03 seconds and Brianna Lyston ran a season’s best 7.05 seconds as both qualified for the women’s 60m final on Saturday’s second day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland.
Smith, who won her first round race in the morning session, won her semi-final race in a lifetime best to secure her place in the final set for later in the session.
Luxembourg’s Patrizia Van Der Weken was second with 7.05 seconds and also earned an automatic spot in the final.
Lyston finished third in a quality semi-final that was won by Olympic Games gold medallist Julien Alfred of St Lucia in 7.04 seconds with American Jacious Sears second in the same time.
