World Indoors: Jamaica’s men win bronze in 4x400m relay
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s men’s 4x400m relay added a bronze medal on Sunday’s final day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Toruń, Poland, after finishing third in the final, in 3:05.99 seconds.
It was Jamaica’s fourth medal of the weekend, adding to two silver and another bronze won earlier.
Outstanding runs from 800m specialists Tyrice Taylor and Kimar Farquharson on the third and fourth legs respectively, brought Jamaica back into medal contention after a slow start to overtake the Netherlands team on the final lap.
Reheem Hayles led off the race, handing over to Delano Kennedy who replaced Demar Francis who anchored the team in the morning’s preliminary.
The USA who only made it to the final on time, broke the championship record with 3:01.52 seconds, winning for a 12th time, while Belgium took the silver in 3:03.29 seconds.
