#Champs2026: Clarendon College’s Jamelia Young retains Girls Class 2 shot put
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Clarendon College’s Jamelia Young retained her Girls’ Class 2 shot put title with a mark of 14.71m on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the national stadium, the first girls final to be decided.
Young, who was only eighth after Tuesday’s qualifying round with 12.75m, overtook Holmwood Technical’s Shamanda Wilmot, who led the qualifying, and threw 14.39m for the silver medal.
Young, who won last year with 13.65m, took the lead in the fourth round after Wilmot had set the pace with her best throw in the opening round.
Excelsior High’s Alyssa Forrester won the bronze medal with 14.22m after she had thrown 13.42m on Tuesday.
