#Champs2026: Edwin Allen’s James seeks upgrade from silver to gold in javelin

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Edwin Allen High’s Addison James will be hoping to improve on last year’s silver medal when he lines up in the final of the boys open javelin event after his 55.85m led qualifiers on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

James, the Trinidad and Tobago national junior record holder with 67.48m, is one of two throwers from the top eight who are back in the final this year, along with 15 year-old Junior Wright of Cornwall College.

Last year, James was second with 65.08m, over the then record 64.08m and needed only one throw to get the automatic qualifying mark of 53.00m.

Kingston College’s Kimari Smith also needed one throw to get through to the final, getting out to 55.66m with his teammate Samuel Brown throwing 46.85m.
