#Champs2026: Holland’s Douglas leads qualifiers for Class 1 100m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Holland High’s Shanoya Douglas leads all qualifiers for the final of the Girls Class 1 100m after running an easy looking 11.17 seconds (1.0m/s) on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the national stadium.
After easing up half-way through her first round race on Tuesday, Douglas sent a message that she will not be easily beaten, holding off one of her rivals, Edwin Allen High’s Alexxe Henry who was second in 11.37 seconds (1.0m/s).
Hydel High’s Shemonique Hazle who led the first round qualifying, ran 11.48 seconds (1.0m/s), the third-fastest of the round while Edwin Allen High’s Renecia Edwards and Wolmer’s Girls’ Tiana Marshall both ran 11.61 seconds.
Kerelle Etienne of Edwin Allen leads the Class 2 qualifying with 11.42 seconds (1.3m/s), ahead of Wolmer’s Natrece East-11.47 seconds (-1.1m/s) with St Jago High’s Shannia Campbell winning her heat in 11.69 seconds (0.4m/s).
St Mary High’s Shayon Smith and St Jago High’s Adora Campbell both ran 11.51 seconds.
Alpha Academy’s Azaria Harris ran 11.79 seconds (-1.3m/s) to lead the Class 3 qualifying ahead of Edwin Allen’s Danelia Clarke who clocked 11.82m seconds (-0.3m/s) with Mt Alvernia High’s Veneisha Pottinger running 11.96 seconds (-1.3m/s).
Andriana Pine of Edwin Allen booked her spot with 11.98 seconds (-0.9m/s) and Rihanna Scott of Ferncourt High clocked 12.06 seconds (-0.3m/s) to also advance.
Brianna Gray of Excelsior was quickest in the Class 4 qualifying, with 12.20 seconds (-1.5m/s) ahead of the Edwin Allen High pair of Monique Bogle- 12.40 seconds (-0.5m/s) and Shantwae Green-12.45 seconds (-0.4m/s).
Vere Technical’s Omeikia Shepherd ran 12.47 seconds (-0.5m/s) while Lacovia High’s De’Ana Ellis was just behind in 12.49 seconds (-0.4m/s).
