#Champs2026: Jamaica College’s Salmon on course to retain Boys Class 1 discus title
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Jamaica College’s Joseph Salmon is on course to retain his Class 1 boys discus throw title after he threw 57.38m to lead the qualifying on Wednesday’s second day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the national stadium.
Salmon and Calabar High’s Kamari Kennedy, who threw 55.41m, each needed only one throw to get the automatic qualifying mark of 55.00m. They will be joined by Munro College’s Rajeem Streete, who won the bronze medal last year.
De-Andre Henry of Calabar High is also through to the final with a mark of 53.48m, Munro College’s Javontae Smith threw 53.43m, while the Kingston College pair of Nkosana Johnson- 53.18m and Daijon Budhai- 53.05m are also in the final.
