Montego Bay United look to rebound against Molynes
Leaders Montego Bay United (MBU) will hope to rebound from Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Chapelton Maroons when they travel to face Molynes United in their Jamaica Premier League third round game at Constant Spring on Wednesday afternoon.
MBU lost to Chapelton for the first time on Sunday but still lead the points table with 57 points, five more than Mt Pleasant FA who have two games in hand, and Racing United.
Three games are set to be played Wednesday with Tivoli Gardens hosting Chapelton and Harbour View hosting Racing. Four more games will be played Thursday.
MBU have won their last six games against Molynes who slipped into the relegation zone after failing to win any of their last 12 games played.
The leaders will need to win convincingly after allowing six goals in their two games and have now conceded 30 goals after 29 games, the most by any team in the top six.
Malachi Sterling, a defender, has become MBU’s most consistent scorer with goals in his last three games but the coaches will hope the likes of Brian Brown will step up in the absence of Dwight Merrick who is away with the national senior men’s team.
Molynes United have won once in their last 16 games and have scored just three times in their last 10 games.
Meanwhile, fresh from their big win over MBU four days ago, Chapelton will hope to get the better of a fading Tivoli Gardens team and move back into seventh place, a point off the top six.
A win for Tivoli would see them move into a three-way tie on 38 points with Chapelton and Arnett Gardens.
Harbour View are on a mini run with back-to-back wins for the first time this season but will face a Racing team still in contention for a top two place at the end of the preliminary rounds.
Racing are coming off a 0-0 draw against Tivoli while Harbour View, who have clawed their way out of the relegation zone, have not conceded in their last two games.
