Cops find illegal firearm on Kingston gully bank
KINGSTON, Jamaica — An illegal firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition were seized during a police operation conducted on Piccadilly Road in Kingston 5 on Thursday afternoon.
According to police reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.
Information reaching Observer Online indicated that, at approximately 12:40 pm, a police team, acting on intelligence, conducted an operation in search of a prohibited weapon.
During a thorough search of the area, the police said officers discovered a clear plastic bag concealed within a dugout along the gully bank.
Upon closer inspection, the bag was found to contain a Taurus GX4 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine holding 14 9mm cartridges. The firearm’s serial number had been removed, and it was wrapped in a blue and white cloth.
Police have indicated that further investigations are underway to identify the owner of the weapon.
