KINGSTON, Jamaica — Holland High’s Shanoya Douglas and Wolmer’s Girls’ Natrece East remained on course for their respective sprint doubles after the conclusion of semi-finals Friday at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championship at the national stadium.

Douglas who had run 10.98 seconds on Wednesday to take the Class 1, 100m, won her semi-final heat in 24.00 seconds flat and could threaten the meet record of 22.53 seconds set in 2022 by Hydel High’s Brianna Lyston.

Douglas was a medallist at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in the 200m.

Also qualifying are the Edwin Allen pair of Alexxe Henry -24.22 and Shanique Cassanova – 24.12 as well as Excelsior’s Breanna Brown who finished in 24.17 seconds.

East recorded the second-fastest time in Class 2, running 23.81 seconds, as Edwin Allen’s Sashana Johnson, the silver medallist in the 400m, ran  23.51, followed by Shannia Campbell of St Jago 24.21, and Shayon Smith of St Mary High with 24.06 seconds.

Holmwood’s Rihanna Scott led the Class 3 qualifying with 24.01, she was followed by Tawaina Marston of Knox-24.33, Veneisha Pottinger of Mt Alvernia 24.34, Tashana Godfrey of Edwin Allen 24.48, and Seana Wilson of Alpha in 24.56.

Hydel’s Reneka Reid was the fastest in Class 4 with 24.98 seconds, with Vere’s Omeikia Shepherd-25.01, Edwin Allen’s Niesha Campbell – 25.54 while Hydel’s Shaunte Morris and Alpha’s Iyanna Ivey both ran 25.73.

Brianna Gray of Excelsior, the Class 4, 100 m champion did not take the start for her semi-final race.
