#Champs2026: William Knibb’s Seymore on course to repeat Class 1 200m gold
KINGSTON, Jamaica – William Knibb’s Sanjay Seymore is on course to retain his Boys Class 1, 200m title while Kingston College’s Jason Pitter will hope to upgrade from bronze in the Class 2 in Saturday’s final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championship.
Seymore topped Class 1 qualification after he clocked 20.85 seconds with Jamaica College’s Makaelan Woods also impressing with 20.97 seconds and Camperdown’s Deequan Maragh in 21.03 seconds.
Omary Robinson of Jamaica College ran 21.11 seconds and St Mary High’s Tenny Daley posted 21.14.
After his astounding 45.76 seconds to win the 400m on Thursday, the question will be whether Kingston College’s Jason Pitter can get close to the Class 2 meet record of 20.80 set in 2016 by Christopher Taylor of Calabar High.
Pitter ran 21.33, which is second only to his teammate Emmile Higgins who led with 21.12. Mario Ross of Wolmer’s clocked 21.46 and Rajaun Romelly of St Jago qualified with 21.71 seconds.
Kemanic Edwards of Kingston College and 100m silver medalist Joshua McWilliams of Wolmer’s Boys’ both ran 22.32 seconds in the Class 3 semis.
Ajani Lumley of Wolmer’s who won the 100m, also advanced to the final with 22.75 with Deandre Parker of Jamaica College also through with 22.79.
