Three men charged following anti-lottery scam operations in Portland

KINGSTON, Jamaica—Three Portland men were arrested and charged in connection with lottery scamming activities during targeted operations in the parish earlier this week.

They are 22-year-old Jaheim Smith and 30-year-old Delroy Howard, both of Anchovy Land Settlement; and 26-year-old Kimani Pollack, of Kildaire in Buff Bay.

Reports are that during coordinated searches of the men’s residences on Monday and Tuesday, the police team seized several electronic devices, including cellular phones and other items believed to be used in the commission of lottery scam activities.

An analysis of the devices revealed identity information belonging to individuals suspected of residing overseas.

A Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Mark X were also seized during the operation, along with over $300,000 cash.

The men were subsequently interviewed and formally charged under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) Special Provisions Act, 2013.

Their court date is being finalised.
