#Champs2026: Wolmer’s Girls’ Natrece East takes Class 2 sprint double
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Wolmer’s Girls’ Natrece East completed the girls Class 2 sprint double after she won the 200m in 23.54 seconds (-1.2m/s) on Saturday’s final day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.
East joined Holland High’s Shanoya Douglas, who won the Class 1 double, breaking the national Under-20 record in the process.
Edwin Allen High’s Sashana Johnson, who had won the silver medal in the 400m, was second with 23.65 seconds, and Priscilla Johnson of The Queens School was third in 24.18 seconds.
Mt Alvernia High’s Veneisha Pottinger, the County of Cornwall Athletics Association (COCAA) Western Champs gold medallist, made up for her fourth-place finish in the 100m by winning the Class 3 event in 24.55 seconds.
Knox College’s Tawaina Marston was second with 24.75 seconds, and Tashana Godfrey of Edwin Allen, the 80m hurdles champion, was third in 24.89 seconds.
Omeikia Shepherd of Vere Technical won the Class 4 gold medal in 22.57 seconds (-1.9m/s), ahead of Hydel High’s Reneka Reid— 25.32 seconds and Niesha Campbell of Edwin Allen, who ran 25.49 seconds.
