Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens seek fourth straight in JWPL

Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens seek fourth straight in JWPL

Three-time defending champions Frazsiers Whip and Arnett Gardens will both be seeking a fourth straight win when they take on Mile Gully FC and Cavalier SC, respectively, in a Jamaica Women’s Premier League (JWPL) double header at the JWN Anthony Spaulding Complex on Saturday, set to start at 3:00 pm.

Both teams have won their first three games played and will be seeking to stay perfect with wins Saturday, as Springers United, who had their two-game winning start halted last weekend, will hope to bounce back when they host Federal United at Irwin High in St James.

Frazsiers Whip are off to another good start to the competition and face a Mile Gully team that are coming off their first win and will start as favourites to win a fourth straight.

Mile Gully had failed to score in their first two games before beating Real MoBay AFC at home on Saturday, but will be facing a tough defense that has given up one goal so far.

It might be even tougher at the other end, where the Mile Gully defence must try to contain the Frazsiers Whip team that will be led by Christine Salmon and Shanel Spence, who have so far combined for seven of their 10 goals scored.

Arnett Gardens, a semi-finalist last season, and finalist Cavalier SC drew both games against each other last season, and while the home team will be favourites, based on form, this game features two of the better teams and both will be going after a win.

Cavalier, who are in a rebuilding mode and have lost a number of top players from last year, have won just one of their three games and have scored just three goals so far.

Arnett Gardens, on the other hand, are the most prolific scoring team so far with 12 goals led by Shikira Douglas.

Springers United, with Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis at the helm, will be seeking their first win against Federal United after a draw and a loss against the St Catherine-based club last season.

The St James outfit has looked more organised and will hope to extend Federal United’s losing skid to three games.

Also in Montego Bay, Los Perfectos, another semi-finalists from last season, will be seeking to stay in second place in Zone B, ahead of Springers United when they travel to face winless Real MoBay AFC.

After scoring their first win of the season, 5-0 in a mid-week rescheduled game against UWI Women, Real Mona will go hunting back to back wins when they go to Carder Park to face WiFi.

Real Mona, who are on four points, could be in second place at the end of the round. In the other game today, UWI Women and Proven Girls will be seeking their first win of the season.
