Winston Jones High triumphs in regional NSLIP Mathematics Competition
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Winston Jones High School is celebrating a significant academic achievement following its outstanding performance in the Regional National School Learning and Intervention Plan (NSLIP) Mathematics Competition.
A team of students from the school emerged as event champions, demonstrating what school officials say is exceptional competence in numeracy, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
“The students, supported by committed teachers and administrators, represented the school with distinction and confidence,” the school said.
The NSLIP initiative, led by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening student performance in key subject areas, particularly mathematics.
The competition provides a platform for students to apply their knowledge in dynamic and challenging ways while fostering a culture of academic excellence.
Speaking on the achievement, Acting Principal Shane Henry noted that the success reflects “the resilience of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the power of structured academic support.”
The school also extended commendations to the other participating institutions whose students contributed to a competitive and enriching experience. Their participation highlighted the importance of collaboration, exposure, and perseverance in the educational journey.
The accomplishment comes at a critical time as students prepare for external examinations, serving as both motivation and affirmation that focused effort yields meaningful results.
Educators at Winston Jones High say the school remains committed to nurturing excellence and empowering students to achieve their full potential, in keeping with its motto: “Prayer and Work Conquer All.”
