April trial for alleged attack on school compound
MONTEGO BAY, St James — An April 28 trial date has been set for a case that has already drawn a lot of attention in this parish, as allegations of threats and violence move towards a full courtroom hearing.
Bobiford Roseway appeared before the Parish Court last Wednesday, where Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton extended his bail and formally set the matter down for trial.
The case arises from an incident in October 2025 that authorities say began with threats and escalated into physical confrontation, leaving the complainant injured.
Roseway is charged with unlawful wounding.
Court documents indicate that on October 21, 2025 Roseway allegedly threatened the complainant during a phone call, warning that he would “cut off her head” if he saw her again — a threat that was subsequently reported to police.
Tensions reportedly intensified the following day when the complainant went to a school in Montego Bay to fetch her daughter. It is alleged that Roseway placed the child inside a classroom and, when contacted by the mother, grabbed both the woman and child by the chest.
The situation is said to have escalated further when a man intervened, reminding Roseway that fighting was not permitted on school premises. It is alleged that Roseway then produced a ratchet knife from his waistband, prompting a struggle in which the complainant sustained injuries to her right forearm and a wound to her left breast.
Prosecutors say the complainant’s attempt to seek immediate help was disrupted when her phone was allegedly taken and damaged during the incident. She later sought medical attention at Cornwall Regional Hospital before reporting the matter to police, which led to Roseway’s arrest.
