Lamar Uffar trained for stronger service delivery
Flow technician earns international certification
FLOW and parent company Liberty Caribbean are continuing their path of customer service excellence through people development via their Technician Pathways Programme.
The programme, launched in 2025, is designed to give technicians structured training, mentorship, and support as they pursue internationally recognised credentials while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
Lamar Uffar, a Flow field services technician, has successfully earned Broadband Premises Installer certification from the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), a globally recognised professional body that sets technical standards for the telecommunications industry.
Uffar’s achievement makes him one of the first technicians in the region to be certified through the Technician Pathways Programme, which Flow declares translates directly into stronger service delivery.
“By equipping technicians with advanced technical knowledge and globally recognised certifications, we’re strengthening our ability to diagnose network issues more efficiently, improve installation quality, and provide faster, more reliable support for households and businesses,” said Darron Turnquest, director, people and communications at Flow. “Recognising achievements like Lamar’s highlights the importance of investing in the growth and development of our team.”
To date, 583 technicians across Liberty Caribbean’s markets have enrolled in the programme and are actively working toward SCTE certifications. The company says this is particularly significant as technicians are often the front line connection between the company and its customers.
Uffar said the certification represents both personal achievement and a step forward for Jamaica’s technical workforce.
“Earning this certification is a proud moment for me because it represents the hard work and training that goes into delivering the best-possible service to our customers,” said Uffar.
“Through the Technician Pathways Programme I’ve been able to deepen my technical knowledge and better understand the systems we work with every day. That means when I’m out in the field installing or troubleshooting, I can diagnose issues faster and ensure customers get the reliable connection they depend on. It’s also motivating because it shows that Flow is investing in us as technicians and giving us opportunities to grow professionally while helping us deliver an even higher standard of service.”
According to Turnquest, the Technician Pathways Programme is part of a wider strategy to professionalise field roles while building a pipeline of highly skilled technical professionals across the region.
The programme also creates meaningful career opportunities for technical staff. Certified technicians will have access to advanced roles within the organisation, opportunities to mentor colleagues, and the ability to contribute to complex regional projects across Liberty Caribbean’s network.
