Style Observer (SO): How would you describe yourself, in a few words?
Shanice Mia Gore (SMG): Resilient, driven, intuitive, and always evolving.
SO: How would you describe your approach to business?
SMG: I lead with intention and authenticity. I believe in building things that feel aligned, creating meaningful experiences, and staying consistent even when it’s not easy.
SO: If you could dine with five female entrepreneurs, living or dead, who would they be and why?
SMG: • Estée Lauder — Built a global beauty empire from the ground up.
• Rihanna — For how she built a global brand while staying true to herself.
• Coco Chanel — Redefined women’s fashion and built one of the most iconic luxury brands in history.
• Indra Nooyi — Known for strong leadership and transforming a global corporation.
• Lisa Lake Epstein — I really admire her as an entrepreneur—building the Lake Group across the Caribbean and co-founding iTel BPO Smart Solutions, shows serious vision and strategy. I’d love to learn how she’s scaled so successfully while still creating real impact.
SO: Share with us the title of the last book read.
SMG: Atomic Habits by James Clear — a powerful reminder that small, consistent habits create real, lasting change.
SO: If you could change two things in Montego Bay, what would they be and why?
SMG: I’d improve the infrastructure and overall cleanliness in key areas — first impressions matter for both locals and visitors. Secondly, I’d create more curated lifestyle and cultural experiences so Montego Bay feels like more than just a stop, but a destination.
SO: What would you add to the tourist experience?
SMG: More immersive, authentic Jamaican experiences—curated day trips and opportunities for visitors to truly connect with the culture beyond the typical resort setting. I’d love to see more access to our real, everyday Jamaica — the food, the people, the music, and the stories that make the island what it is.
SO: Cruising into Kingston from MoBay, what would you be listening to?
SMG: A mix of dancehall, R&B, soca, and some classics — whatever matches the vibe I’m in. Honestly, it could be Céline Dion one minute or Vybz Kartel the next!
SO: What have you placed firmly in the rearview mirror for 2026?
SMG: Overextending myself and pouring into things that aren’t pouring back into me.
SO: How would you describe your style?
SMG: My style is feminine and confident, blending classic pieces with a subtle, distinctive edge.
SO: Heels or flats?
SMG: Heels always … but I appreciate a good flat moment when needed.
SO: And your preferred perfume?
SMG: I’m just getting into perfume and love experimenting with different scents. Lately, I’ve been drawn to the playful florals of Baccarat Rouge 540 Fleur and Miss Dior.
SO: An evening in or out?
SMG: Depends on the mood — but lately, an evening out with good company wins.
SO: What are you drinking?
SMG: Appleton 15 Naked Lady.
SO: What’s in it?
SMG: Appleton 15
2 oz pineapple juice
1 oz cranberry juice
1 oz ginger syrup
Dash of plain syrup
Splash of lime juice
Pineapple and cherry garnish
SO: How do you relax?
SMG: I unwind by cooking; my kitchen is my happy place.
SO: Who’s your favourite designer?
SMG: I’d have to say Chanel. I love designers who strike the perfect balance between structure and femininity — pieces that feel effortless yet make a statement.
SO: As we head into the warmer months, which hair colours and styles are in demand?
SMG: Warmer tones like honey blonde, caramel, and soft copper are definitely in. Styles are leaning toward effortless — natural textures, soft waves, and clean, low-maintenance looks.
SO: Finally, what’s your personal philosophy?
SMG: Protect your peace, trust your timing, and never dim your light to make others comfortable.
