Years without access: JN account dispute resolved after regulatory intervention
Dear Claudienne,
I have encountered persistent challenges in accessing my bank account (0100-xxxx SV.xxx) at the Jamaica National Bank since 2018. Multiple attempts to resolve the issues have been unsuccessful.
During a trip to Jamaica in November 2025, I visited the New Kingston JN Bank branch twice but a resolution to the problem was not achieved.
A subsequent visit to the Half-Way-Tree location did not resolve the problem as the manager was unavailable. I then contacted the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) and subsequently the JN management contacted me, with SD (Sherica Dixon) providing the initial communication . I still, however, do not have access to my account
I hope you can pull this one out.
SG
Dear SG,
Tell Claudienne has been in communication with the JN Corporate Communications Department (JNCCD) about your concerns. On March 19, 2026 the JNCCD sent the column the following e-mail:
“Our JN Bank team has sought to assist the member on several occasions. However, we are unable to proceed any further with the member’s request until all parties on the account have consented.”
On Wednesday March 25, 2026, you told Tell Claudienne that the issues with the bank had been settled and that JN Bank had closed the account.
On March 25, 2026, the JNCCD also sent the column the following e-mail:
“Further to our update on March 19, 2026, we confirm that all parties have now signed the necessary documents and the account was closed today, March 25. A cheque in the name of the member was also prepared. Our team is in the process of contacting the member to inform him of the resolution and to provide him with documentary evidence of the closure, the final amount held in the account, and value of the funds released to him.”
We wish you all the best.
