17-y-o charged for allegedly stealing over $800,000 from woman’s account
HANOVER, Jamaica – A 17-year-old boy is facing charges of simple larceny following the theft of a woman’s debit card and the withdrawal of funds exceeding $800,000 sometime between February and March of 2026.
Reports from the Lucea police are that the teen boy, who lives with the woman, searched her belongings and removed her debit card without her knowledge or consent.
It was further reported that the woman became suspicious as a result of the unemployed teenager purchasing a motorcycle valued at $190,000. Further checks revealed that money was withdrawn from her account; hence, a report was made to the police.
The teen boy was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of a relative and two justices of the peace.
He is scheduled to appear before the Hanover Family Court on Tuesday, March 31.
