New Mobicare location brings convenient, patient-focused medical care to the heart of Kingston
MOBICARE Medical Centre has officially opened its new location at 24 Parkington Plaza, strengthening access to convenient and affordable healthcare in the heart of Half-Way-Tree, St Andrew.
Positioned within one of Kingston’s most active commercial corridors, the centre was strategically established to serve students, working professionals, families, and nearby businesses through accessible, patient-focused medical services in a prime and easily reachable location.
The decision to establish the medical centre at Parkington Plaza was driven by the area’s centrality, steady pedestrian traffic, and the suitability of the space for future expansion, the centre said.
“As health-care demand continues to grow in urban communities, Mobicare aims to provide a reliable alternative for individuals seeking timely, compassionate care without the extended wait times often associated with public facilities.”
Mobicare Medical Centre is led by Frans Collins, MBBS, owner and chief executive officer with over 11 years of medical experience, alongside Director Edmond Iles, MBBS. The founders established the centre with a clear mission to bridge the health-care gap by delivering services that are both affordable and attentive to individual patient needs.
“Mobicare stands for convenient and affordable medical care where you need it, when you need it. And if no one else cares, Mobicare cares,” said Dr Collins, noting that the new location represents a long-term commitment to improving access to private healthcare while maintaining high professional standards.
Dr Iles further emphasized the centre’s purpose, stating: “Our aim is to bridge the gap for persons who have difficulty accessing healthcare by making it convenient and affordable, while ensuring close follow-up and genuine attention to detail for every patient.”
The medical centre provides a wide range of general practitioner services including chronic disease management, routine checkups, school medical examinations, pap smears, minor surgical procedures, and gynaecological services available on Fridays.
An on-site laboratory offers the full range of traditional diagnostic tests, with turnaround times depending on the specific investigation required. The centre currently accepts Guardian and Canopy insurance providers, further improving affordability for insured patients.
Patients can expect an efficient and organised experience, with an average wait time of approximately 20 minutes. The facility is wheelchair accessible, offers on-site parking, and utilises digital medical records to enhance continuity and efficiency of care.
Appointments can be booked via phone, WhatsApp, or the centre’s website, and Saturday appointments are currently available by request. Plans are already underway to introduce additional specialists, expand service hours, and further develop the facility as demand increases.
Beyond clinical services, Mobicare maintains a strong community focus. The centre has sustained a two-year ongoing medical partnership with Greater Portmore High School and continues to offer student medical packages. Its location near major educational institutions and businesses enables the team to support both academic and corporate wellness needs. The centre is also exploring partnerships within Parkington Plaza and has plans to host upcoming health fairs and screening initiatives to further engage the community.
As Mobicare Medical Centre continues to grow, its leadership remains committed to delivering healthcare that is accessible, compassionate, and responsibly priced. The opening at Parkington Plaza marks an important milestone in that journey, reinforcing the centre’s dedication to serving Kingston residents with professionalism and care, its owners pledge.
