10-man Mt Pleasant held by Arnett Gardens in JPL game
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Mount Pleasant FA battled to a 1-1 draw against Arnett Gardens in their third-round Jamaica Premier League clash on Monday, despite playing the entire second half with 10 men at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.
Jahshaun Anglin’s time on the field lasted just 27 minutes. He entered the match in the 18th minute as a replacement for the injured Daniel St Fleur but was sent off in the 45th minute by referee Daneon Parchment for a high tackle on Jamone Shepherd.
The result moves second-placed Mount Pleasant FA to 56 points, leaving them five behind leaders Montego Bay United, with two games still in hand. Arnett Gardens, meanwhile, remain ninth on 40 points after consecutive draws.
Also on Monday, Waterhouse delivered a dominant 5-1 victory over Spanish Town Police at Drewsland, bouncing back from last week’s defeat to Portmore. Colorado Murray netted twice, while Racing United and Treasure Beach FC played to a goalless draw in the opening match of the double-header at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.
Despite being a man short, Mount Pleasant FA took the lead through Raheem Edwards in the 56th minute. However, Arnett Gardens responded in the 69th minute when substitute Fitzroy Reid scored to secure a point.
At Drewsland, Murray scored in the 35th and 51st minutes, Denardo Thomas scored in the 41st minute, Duwayne Burgher in the 87th and Mario Simms in the 88th for Waterhouse FC. Carlington Blackwood came off the bench to score the lone goal for Spanish Town Police FC.
