Man killed in Manchester police confrontation, firearm seized
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man was killed in an alleged confrontation with the police in Melrose Gardens near Land Settlement in Manchester on Wednesday.
Relatives identified him as Tajrae Thomas, otherwise called “Bomb Dem”, a resident of Melrose Gardens.
Preliminary reports are that about 4:30 pm, police went to his house in Melrose Gardens during an operation when they were confronted. Police said Thomas was fatally shot, and a pistol was seized.
However, his relatives described him as a jovial person and questioned the actions of the police.
“He was even diagnosed bipolar… everybody love him same way. He didn’t give a problems. Any help you want Tajrae was there. You can say he was well respected in the community,” his sister told journalists.
