Skeng set to ignite dancehall energy at Magnum Riva Bash
Pennants River in Clarendon is set to come alive on April 3 when the highly anticipated Riva Bash returns.
Promising a full day-into-night celebration steeped in authentic dancehall energy, the popular event is expected to transform the riverbed into a vibrant party hub, turning up the excitement with headlining act Skeng.
Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, Riva Bash has grown into a staple on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar. For nearly a decade, Magnum Tonic Wine has partnered with the event, helping to shape an experience that blends authentic dancehall culture with top-tier talent and an engaging party atmosphere.
“Riva Bash is one of those events that, in its entirety, captures the essence of dancehall,” Brandon Wallace, brand manager at Magnum Tonic Wine said. “Our partnership over the years has been rooted in a shared commitment to creating authentic and, more importantly, high-quality entertainment experiences that highlight dancehall as a cultural driver. Each staging gets bigger, and this year will be even greater than the last. It’s more than just a sponsorship — it’s about building something our consumers genuinely look forward to year after year, and we’re proud to continue that journey.”
Patrons can expect a dynamic experience that begins with a relaxed riverside lyme at 10:00 am before building into a full-blown dancehall showcase by night.
The soundtrack for the day will be powered by legendary sound system Bass Odyssey and the 2023 Magnum All-Star Soundclash champions Echo One Sound featuring Fire Wayne.
Promoter Shanique Lloyd says the charm of Riva Bash lies in its unique atmosphere, where patrons are invited to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.
“It’s really about the feeling, the authentic river experience to which people come from early to have brunch by the river, play dominoes, and just soak in the ambience before the real excitement,” Lloyd shared.
Held three times throughout the year, the April 3 staging — the first for the year — is being positioned as a special moment to show appreciation to loyal patrons.
“By night, Riva Bash transforms into something stirring with non-stop, straight dancehall juggling that keeps the dance alive. Over the years our patrons have asked us to take it even further by including live performances. We’ve done it before, but this April we’re making sure they get a real dancehall treat with Skeng, the kind of performer they’ve been asking for. Skeng is the perfect fit for this staging, and we’re guaranteeing an all-round great experience,” added Lloyd.
Known for his commanding stage presence and a catalogue of hits including Protocol, Shalalala, Street Cred, and London, Skeng has quickly become one of dancehall’s most talked-about and in-demand performers. He also gained international recognition following his collaboration with Nicki Minaj on Likkle Miss (Remix), which entered the Billboard charts and peaked at #6.
With Magnum’s signature engaging activations planned and VIP tickets already sold out, anticipation continues to build for what is shaping up to be one of the season’s most memorable dancehall events.
Patrons are encouraged to arrive early, wear comfortable shoes and prepare for a seamless blend of daytime relaxation and late-night dancehall excitement.
