Sakka Club Brown’s Town retake lead in JFF Championship Group A
Sakka Club Brown’s Town reclaimed the lead in Group A of the Jamaica Football Championships with a 1-0 win over Baptist Alliance at York Oval in St Thomas on Saturday.
Sakka moved to 23 points from 10 games, two ahead of Tru-Juice, who have a game in hand. Lime Hall Academy are third on 18 points.
Roaring River moved to within a point of Group B leaders Humble Lion after a 4-1 win over St Bess United at Munro College.
There were also wins for Lime Hall, Jamaica Defence Force, and WiFi United.
Akeeba Marshall’s 18th-minute goal gave Sakka the win over Baptist Alliance, completing a season sweep.
Lime Hall beat Progressive 2-0, with goals from Christopher Watson in the 26th minute and Rohan Sewell in the 38th minute, after a 6-1 first-round win.
Jamaica Defence Force beat Meadforest 2-1 in a game that ended with both teams reduced to 10 players, avenging a 1-0 first-round loss.
Hambuji McCalla gave Jamaica Defence Force the lead in the 36th minute, and Michael Allen added a second in the 47th minute. Jeffrey Robinson scored for Meadforest in the 89th minute. Mark Myton was sent off for Meadforest in the 89th minute, and Chevaun Warren was dismissed for Jamaica Defence Force two minutes later.
Keandre Wilson scored twice in the first half as WiFi United came from behind to beat Gray’s Inn 4-1 at Carder Park.
Rasheed Dennis gave Grays Inn the lead in the third minute, but Wilson equalised in the 15th minute and put WiFi ahead in the 23rd minute. Chris Baugh made it 3-1 in the 39th minute, and Radcliffe Palmer added a fourth in the 77th minute after coming on in the 63rd minute.
Kayjaye Williams scored twice late as Roaring River beat St Bess United 4-1, after the teams had drawn 1-1 in the first round.
O’Shawn Neil gave Roaring River the lead in the 42nd minute and Jashane Foster made it 2-0 in the 50th minute. Williams scored in the 82nd minute, Romario Ebanks pulled a goal back for St Bess United, then Williams completed his brace in time added.
Falmouth United surrendered a 2-0 lead and drew 2-2 with Petersfield at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium.
Phelan Christie scored in the 10th minute and Kayvon Donaldson added a second in the 16th minute for Falmouth United. Shewayne Barton pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 35th minute before Richard Hudson scored the equaliser in the 70th minute.
