Mt Pleasant rally to beat Cavalier in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Mt Pleasant FA came from behind to beat defending champions Cavalier SC 3-1 in their rescheduled Jamaica Premier League second round game played at Stadium East on Thursday, ending a three-game winless run.
Mt Pleasant left it late with their goals in the final 23 minutes of the game which was their third win over Cavalier SC this season and moved them to within two points of leaders Montego Bay United who leads with 62 points to the St Ann team’s 60.
Also on Thursday, national Under- 20 international Giovanni Taylor scored a brace for Arnett Gardens in their 4-0 thrashing of Treasure Beach in their rescheduled game played at the STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz.
Arnett Gardens’ win moved them to 43 points, just two behind Cavalier SC for the sixth spot.
At Stadium East, Dwayne Allen gave Cavalier SC an early lead when he scored in the ninth minute.
Kimoni Bailey scored the equaliser in the 67th minute before Raheem Chambers scored his 16th goal of the season to give them the lead in the 77th minute.
An own goal in the 89th minute ended the game as a contest for Cavalier SC who were losing their fourth game in the last five outings.
At the STETHS Sports Complex, Taylor scored in the 30th and 64th minutes as Arnett Gardens ended a three-game win-less run and handed Treasure Beach their first loss in four games.
Tevin Shaw also scored in the 37th minute and Jamone Shepherd in the 90th minute.
