Probe underway into video of murder suspect arrest at Mandeville Police Station, says commander
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Head of the Manchester police, Superintendent Carey Duncan, says an investigation is underway pertaining to a video showing the arrest of a murder suspect at the Mandeville Police Station last Friday.
The suspect, Damanice Tyrone Williamson, 27, a member of the Jamaica Defence Force, was subsequently charged for the murder of his girlfriend, Tanzanya Dunkley, 29, an air conditioning technician.
Police said Williamson confessed to killing Dunkley at her home in Three Chains, Manchester last Friday.
Williamson then turned up at the Mandeville Police Station armed with what appears to be a knife asking police personnel to “shoot him and kill him”.
Superintendent Duncan commended the police personnel at the station for how they handled the arrest of Williamson.
He said it is unclear as to who captured the video, which has gone viral. However, he said if it is determined to be a member of the constabulary, then disciplinary action will be taken against the individual.
