Taylor Made to lead home rivals in Thornbird Stakes
Eight fillies will continue their Road to the Triple Crown series of races in tomorrow’s 33rd running of the $1.75-million Thornbird Stakes. The Graded Stakes contest will be contested over 7 furlongs (1,400m).
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at the runners and their chances of winning.
1. ALIYA’S WILL: (3 ch f by Hedge Fund – Crème De La) – Won on debut, but not expected to repeat. This filly has shown promise, but it’s unclear if she can manage the big guns yet.
2. GIVING THANKS: (3 b f by Bern Identity – Lightning Lily) – Had a bad start in the Hotline Stakes, finishing third on March 21. However, with a better start this time, Giving Thanks could be more competitive and challenge the front-runners.
3. ONE IANZHA LINKS: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Nippit) – Should handle the distance well and could make a bold bid. This filly has the stamina and could surprise.
4.VICTORIOUS LINKS: (3 b f by Western Warrior – Victory Turn) – Not expected to win.
5. TAYLOR MADE: (3 gr f by Aveenu Malcainu – Another Fury) – Impressive 3 ¾-length winner of the Hotline Stakes (6 furlongs/1,200m). Taylor Made has been working well and could lead home rivals here, making her a strong contender.
6. LEXI LOU: (3 b f by Aveenu Malcainu – Herroyalhighness) – Is going to be left behind in this one.
7. MIDNIGHT TRAVELLER: (3 ch f by Aveenu Malcainu – Esperanza) – Has no realistic chance of winning.
8. DREAM CATCHER: (3 b f by Bern Identity – Double Jeopardy) – Ran a brave race to finish second behind stablemate
Taylor Made in the Hotline Stakes. With distance out of the question, Dream Catcher is expected to run well once again.
9. ANOTHER WOW: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Sarah Barracuda) – Was an easy winner of 8 ½ lengths going 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
Another Wow is going to appreciate this extended journey and could be on premises when the race is being decided.
