Keith & Tex reimagine ‘Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps’ in signature style
When Keith and Tex decided last year to cover popular songs they loved, Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps was one of the selections the veteran duo agreed on.
Their version was released in March. It is co-produced by Carl Fletcher, Basil “Benbow” Creary and Keith Rowe.
“The decision to cover ‘Perhaps’ was taken after a conversation with my friends about doing covers of obscure, and well-loved songs. Perhaps it was the first song we recorded,” Keith told the Observer Online.
It is the follow-up to What You Won’t do For Love, their reggae take on Bobby Caldwell’s blue-eyed soul classic.
Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps was written by Cuban Osvaldo Farres and first released in 1947. The song has been recorded by Desi Arnaz, Doris Day, Bing Crosby and Dennis Brown.
“Our approach to covering songs, is to make it our own and in our style,” Keith explained.
He and Tex are among a handful of acts from the 1966-68 rocksteady era still active. Keith lives in Tampa, Florida while Tex is a longtime resident of Toronto, Canada.
Guided by producer Derrick Harriott, they rode the Jamaican charts over 50 years ago with songs like Don’t Look Back, Tonight and Stop That Train.
In addition to touring Europe and Australia, Keith and Tex consistently release a new album every two years. Gun Life, their previous set, was released in 2025 by Liquidator Records out of Spain.
