Mastering Difficult Conversations: Carolyn Rose Miller leads initiative to strengthen professional and personal relationships
Communication expert Carolyn Rose Miller is taking proactive steps to address what she describes as a troubling pattern in professional and personal relationships, announcing an upcoming workshop aimed at equipping individuals with healthier conversation tools.
Drawing from years of professional experience, Rose Miller notes a frequent breakdown in relationships due to unresolved conflict.
The Mastering Difficult Conversations workshop on May 2, she explains, is designed to intervene early, offering practical strategies to de-escalate tension, rebuild trust, and foster more constructive dialogue between team members or partners.
“Whenever you avoid the conservation or handle it poorly you suffer the consequences. The desired outcomes are compromised. This workshop will equip you with strategies to approach the conversation effectively to improve relationships and results,” Rose Miller told Observer Online.
“I have observed too many relationships destroyed because of the parties refusing to communicate and address the issues,” she added, noting that inefficiencies in the workplace and rising intimate partner violence are among the undesirable consequences.
Rose Miller is a marketing and communication professional with over 15 years’ experience, an educator and a trained trainer who has worked for private and public sector entities while also giving support to the MSME sector.
She is also an experienced certified and gazetted mediator, and a Justice of the Peace.
While noting that mediation is not a big part of Jamaican culture, “unless it is court appointed”, Rose Miller touts it as an effective tool in addressing conflicts.
“Mediation and conflict resolution are key to creating a harmonious, cohesive relationship,” she said. “I see urgent need to share tips in employing proven and effective strategies to address conflicts… this should be the forefront of everyone’s mind.”
