If it nuh go suh…! – July 16

And the bloody beat goes on

Thursday’s newspaper headlines really shook me up. “Taxi journey turns deadly for driver, male passenger”; “Gospel singer killed in St Elizabeth”; “Relatives of males killed in crash mourn, want answers”; “Greenvale residents shocked following woman’s gruesome death”; “Alarming crime surge on southern Manchester/St Elizabeth border”. It is sad to say this but it seems that there will be no letting up on the constant blood shedding in our beautiful country.

Packing my bags for Australia/New Zealand

No one is happier to see sisters prevailing. The Reggae Girlz have made me happy and proud with their consecutive qualification for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. That four-nil beating of Haiti was sweet. I’m packing my bags from now to head for Australia and New Zealand where the finals will be held next July. You go, Girlz!

The heat is on

Am I the only one feeling the heat, from the sun, that is? Wednesday must have been the hottest day of the year. And it has nothing to do with having the flashes. I’m not yet there. But I expected to hear the authorities pushing the message that people, especially the elderly, need to be drinking more water at this time, to prevent dehydration. Ladies, look out for your old folks who may not be able to speak up.

Rest in peace, Cecelia Bell

Cecelia Bell

That news item in the Jamaica Observer on Thursday that Cecelia Bell is dead hit me like a freight train. She was such a sweet soul. Everybody loved her. We worked together at the Shipping Association and I was sad to see her go. BTW, the Observer said she died on January 5. The paper got it wrong because the date of her passing is July 5. Rest in peace, Cecelia.
