AS part of its 2025 Labour Day initiative, the VM Group has extended support to Tegwyn House, a specialised unit at the Jamaica National Children’s Home that offers 24-hour care to children with severe mental and physical disabilities.

Just over 60 volunteers from the VM team, along with partners from the Girls Brigade Movement, engaged in a day of renovation and beautification activities at the location in Papine, St Andrew.

This included the installation of new toilets and a bath table in the girls’ section of the home, painting and landscaping activities, and conducting critical repairs to the electrical panel at the home. Volunteers also created an activity space outside the work area to engage the residents while the team carried out its work.

In addition, through the kind support of the leadership team across the group, the home was gifted with four well-needed wheelchairs, furniture to outfit the living and dining room area, toiletries and other necessary items to enhance the living conditions.

“Our work at Tegwyn House this Labour Day is more than just a project — it’s a demonstration of the values we hold dear at VM,” said Courtney Campbell, group president and CEO.

“These children deserve to experience love, care, and a safe, nurturing environment. We are honoured to play a small role in helping to make that a reality,” added Campbell.

The Labour Day initiative follows a $750,000 contribution made to the home earlier this year, as part of donations from the annual National Prayer Breakfast charity initiative, for which Tegwyn House was this year’s beneficiary.

VM is a proud sponsor of the event and contributed $500,000 to the total amount, which is being used primarily to conduct upgrading works in the kitchen area and offset costs towards other needs at the facility.
