VOWS – Let The Good Times Roll
And indeed they did — Mardi Gras style to boot on January 1, 2011 for Kimberly Wallace, daughter of Pearline McLeod and Karl Wallace, and Andre Young, son of Kay and Errol Young. They were introduced three years ago by mutual friend Danielle Davis.
The beginning of a new year symbolised a new start for the couple. The union took the form of an intimate afternoon ceremony conducted by Rev Earl Allick Morgan. The setting chosen was City View — a venue that, as night fell, afforded a breathtaking view of the lights of the city of Kingston.
The bride wore…
A white Maggie Sottero Rosalyn gown that featured a Queen Ann neckline, cutout back, and beautiful lace details and beading. With delicate ruching at the side, the gown’s asymmetrical skirt fell gently into a pleated cathedral train.
And carried…
A bouquet of white roses and orchids, hand-tied, and accented with beads and peacock feathers designed by All Wrapped Up.
Also carrying hand-tied bouquets were Kimberly’s bridesmaids, whose purple carnation pomanders and yellow roses, also with beads and peacock feathers, picked up the canary yellow of their knee-length David’s Bridal dresses. The groomsmen were decked out in black suits and yellow ties from Beautiful Brides & Mr Tux, and best man Rushaun Allen wore his suit with a purple tie. The groom chose a black suit with subtle pinstripes by local design house Romeich Wear, which he paired with a green tie and vest.
The reception followed on the lawns of City View, beautifully decorated by the staff with white ottomans and love seats. The wedding colours of yellow, purple and green were incorporated, tying in perfectly with the couple’s Mardi Gras-themed reception, which was further enhanced by beads and feathered masks.
The Cake…
The delectable three-tier cake covered in white fondant was decorated with Mardi Gras masks, peacock feathers, beads, and apple green vines — symbolic of the union of two lives. Baked and decorated by Helen Perkins, the cake’s bottom layer was a traditional Jamaican fruit cake, while the upper tiers consisted of Black Forest and chocolate cakes — the bride’s favourites.
The couple honeymooned at the Couples Resort, Tower Isle, St Mary.
