What’s Trending? – Designs by Jae Jolly

Our local brands are, that’s what!

Janel Jolly for Jae Jolly is our designer in the spotlight this week as we continue to share the talents of our local designers.

Name: Sarah Cumming

Occupation: Corporate Banker

I’m wearing… a blush-pink dress with lace and silk chiffon.

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… on Mission Catwalk and Fashion’s Night Out at kerry manwomanhome. She was showcasing there and it was the first time I tried on a few of her pieces. It was an instant love affair and I’ve been supporting her ever since.

I support Jae Jolly because… her designs are unique, fashion-forward and elegant.

I have… four pieces

My favourite is… this white jumpsuit I got from her with gold buttons and detailing on the back. It seems as if it was tailored just for me. It fits like a glove! I wore it to Utopia 2012 and received countless compliments.

Name: Trudi Hamilton

Occupation: Sales and Marketing Manager, Hamilton’s Smoke House

I’m wearing… a tie-dye kaftan with embroidery detail.

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… in 2005 when I had Janel create me an awesome shirt. I’m very proud to say I was her first client. I wore the shirt she made to a party and everybody wanted to know where I got it. Before I knew it, I had to wait in line to get more stuff. Janel’s designs became a hit!

I support Jae Jolly because… I love supporting local talent but I also think Janel is very talented. She is very in tune with what happens on the international fashion scene and then she puts her own twist on it. She understands my style and just how I like things.

I have… believe it or not, 34 pieces.

My favourite is… so far, a long white beach cover-up which can also be worn out at night. It’s very boho-chic and I always rack up lots of compliments.

Name: Roxan Wais

Occupation: Business Development and Customer Service Manager at Guardsman

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… when I saw her pieces during Caribbean Fashion Week. Her swimwear line was absolutely amazing and I immediately purchased a few of her pieces. I later fell in love with her maxi dresses and super wide-legged pants. Needless to say, my love affair continues.

I’m wearing…a tie-dye kimono-sleeved maxi dress with embellishments.

I support Jae Jolly because… I’ve always been an avid supporter of local designs. I support the brand because I think all her pieces are unique and sophisticated while incorporating an authentic Jamaican flair. What I find particularly captivating about her designs is the way she creatively mixes different textures and patterns.

I have… six pieces

My favourite is… hard to choose. But I would say my favourite designs are the super wide-legged pants and the fringe bikini.

Name: Ka-el Clarke

Occupation: Owner Glam Culture Boutique

I’m wearing… an ethnic bralet top and Jae Jolly’s famous wide-legged pants.

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… after seeing her collection at CFW. I immediately knew her line would be my new obsession. Her keen attention to detail, bold, colourful prints and modern yet sophisticated designs reflect my personality perfectly. Her collection includes an extensive variety of styles from conservative chic to sleek and classy. This is ideal, as for any given occasion there will be an appropriate Jae Jolly piece for me.

I support Jae Jolly because… I’m an avid supporter of the slogan “Buy Jamaica, Build Jamaica”. It’s amazing to see our local designers excelling the way they have. The quality of the fabric is always on par and the finish is tailored and precise.

I have… too many to count! (smile) ….Hmmm, I’d say about nine and definitely counting.

My favourite is…well, it would have to be the wide-legged pants. They’re trendy, classic and most importantly, comfortable. This look is definitely a head-turner.

Name: Judith Green

Occupation: Investment Officer

I’m wearing… a giraffe print kimono-sleeved maxi dress.

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… when I saw the collection at CFW in 2010. I was immediately impressed with her work and later got a piece from her collection as a gift and have never looked back.

I support Jae Jolly because… it’s a local-made product with sophisticated appeal — made just for me! I’m sure Janel will continue to do very well and not just in Jamaica. (Plus, she’s also super-patient with me)…

I have… five and counting…

My favourite is… hmmm, love the piece I’m wearing and a swimsuit I bought some time ago that fits me perfectly.

Name: Breanna Rae

Occupation: Project Manager

I’m wearing… a chartreuse peplum dress.

My love affair with Jae Jolly began… when she first launched at Caribbean Fashion Week. I always knew she was talented, but when I saw her first collection I fell in-love. The pieces were all so wearable and hot!

I support Jae Jolly because… her pieces are always trendy, colourful, comfortable, and affordable. Plus, the craftsmanship is incredible. Janel can sew anything and it will be sure to last forever.

I have… seven pieces and counting.

My favourite is… this chartreuse dress I’m wearing. The colour is amazing and I love how it looks with my complexion.
