Vows: ‘Til Death do us Part

Alton-Lee Bramwell met Rochelle Morrison at their workplace where they both served as summer interns… “but we were in different departments so we never actually saw each other”, Rochelle told Vows.

They finally met face to face in 2006, and Alton-Lee was bold enough to invite Rochelle on a date. The couple soon became inseparable.

After months of courtship, their relationship deepened significantly. Rochelle was very supportive of Alton-Lee for two years while he pursued his Master’s degree at the University of the West Indies. “I was his main cheerleader,” Rochelle shared with Vows.

After four years of courting Rochelle, Alton-Lee knew he had met the woman he wanted to marry. In 2010, Rochelle got accepted into a master’s programme in Europe. Before she left, Alton-Lee proposed to her at their favourite restaurant — the venue of their first date.

Two years after their engagement, Rochelle returned home to Jamaica, and the couple finally set the date!

The wedding ceremony took place on December 22, 2012 at St Jude’s Anglican Church in Stony Hill, St Andrew, and was officiated by the ministerial duo of Rev Leon Golding and Rev Spencer Colquhoun. The church was beautifully decorated by Joyce Clarke. The arrival of the bridal party signalled that the ceremony would begin shortly.

The party included maid of honour Nicole Morrison, best man Pierre Buckley, bridesmaids Heather Brown, Janelle Simpson and Taraja Jackson, groomsmen Jason Brown, Sean Swaby and Ricardo Fisher, flower Girl Zoe Brown and ring bearer Paul J Kidd.

The bridegroom was smartly attired in a suit by fashion designer Dexter Huxtable from Spokes Apparel, and the groomsmen wore custom-designed suits from Spencer’s Tailoring.

The bridesmaids’ dresses were designed by Precious Bennett from Bourbon Street Fashion and Fabric, and the bride made her grand entrance — on the arm of her father Trevor Morrison — wearing an eye-catching white Maggie Sottero gown from Petals and Promises that she complemented with a jewelled waistband.

After a deeply inspiring wedding ceremony, the couple sealed their union with a thrilling kiss.

The Pavilion at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel was the venue chosen for the couple’s magnificent wedding reception and feast. Guests enjoyed the sumptuous cake from Made by Cakes as well as individually decorated cupcake favours prepared by Go Cakes. Guests were also entertained by DJ Gary Freestyle as well as saxophonist Conrad Pinnock and his band, who performed Eric Benet and Tamia’s Spend my Life With You, to which the couple danced for the first time as husband and wife. All the guests and family members showered the beaming couple with heartfelt wishes for a bright and prosperous future before the festivities came to an end.
