JULAN By Juliette Dyke
The fashion design graduate from the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts has been turning heads since her impressive debut at CFW in 2009. Dyke has a flair for mixing contrasting fabrics to create super-chic looks. She also draws inspiration from a tableau of sources, including different historical periods. For her Julan collection showcased at this year’s CFW, the designer sought inspiration from the not-so-ubiquitous deck of cards to add whimsy to her geometrically clean designs.
Dyke embellishes this black
dress with the addition of a
flirty grey cape. Note the
asymmetrical finish of the
hem and the contrasting
orange print. At right: Dyke used symbols from playing
cards to create the dramatic
prints embedded within her
Julan collection at CFW.
