Kurt Campbell’s Desert Fest

Just in time for the Spring/Summer season, local fashion designer Kurt Campbell debuted his Desert Fest collection and copped the coveted Avant Garde Designer of the Year title at the recent Campari/Saint International calendar event. Campbell solidified his credentials as a premier designer with haute couture designs and easy-breezy menswear pieces.

Kurt’s Inspiration

After touring the fashion capital Milan and being inspired by the different collections, Campbell was eager to present his take on the carefree and vibrant nature of the Europeans. He shares with AW Fashion: “Our Jamaican men aren’t the typical risk-takers”, so he found a way to marry the personality of the European man with that of the urban Jamaican man.

The collection — which includes a mixture of tribal, tie-dye, sheer and mesh-panelled pieces — are wearable, functional and even has unisex appeal. “I want people to see the collection and go: “Oooh! I want that shirt, I want those pants!”
