5 reasons why ‘ex sex’ is a bad thing
IT’S perfectly normal to still have feelings for your ex, especially if the reasons you parted had nothing to do with chemistry. But some people, in that time between the break-up and finding someone else, engage in relations with their exes as a means of getting satisfaction with someone who’s familiar. And this is not OK.
Below, Sexual Encounters author Amelia Thompson gives five reasons why you should quit while you’re ahead.
1. You may reignite your emotions for him
As good as the sex is, leave him alone. Getting involved with him again after you swore you were done with him is only setting yourself up for disaster. There is a reason he is your ex.
If you think about it, sex will only add another layer of complication to your already complicated relationship. And more importantly, it might very well open you both up to deeper hurt.
2. He has probably moved on
Imagine, before you were his woman and you want to all of a sudden become his side chick! You’re cheating yourself. There is no future in it no matter how badly you want it. Don’t relive the past or create trouble between him and his partner. The best gift that you could give an ex is freeing them and giving them the space they need to move on.
3. Sleeping around is not the best of ideas
Between the time you and your man broke up, do you know for sure how many persons he has been with? Can you swear for him? If not, we suggest that you leave that kettle of fish alone. Contracting a sexually transmitted infection is a serious thing and to avoid the complications which are usually involved it is best that you leave him alone, at least for the sake of your own health.
4. He is just looking for a friend with benefits
He probably figures that he can get sex from you without having to be in a relationship. This is only cheating you. This friends with benefits arrangement is only benefiting him, and not you. So what happens when you need a shoulder to cry on? Will he be available or is that not part of the arrangement?
5. What after? What about the future?
So you had sex with him a couple times after you broke up. Now what? Is it that you’re expected to keep a straight face when you see him? Is it a kiss and don’t tell type of arrangement? This hanky panky business with your ex can open up a whole can of worms. Will he call you occasionally or just when he wants some? What if you find someone new, will he still need his body serviced? What if he wants to get back together for real? Take this advice, don’t start something you want finished!
