Vows – You and Me Forever

Morristown Medical Center registered nurse and Jamaican-born New Jersey resident Stacy-Ann Jarrett wed Jamaican O’Mar Anderson, sports and recreations attendant at Hedonism II, on August 8 at the New Testament Church of God in Negril.

Vows shares their wedding journey.

How they met…

“About a year ago, my friend Petalyn and I opted to vacation in Negril and stayed at Hedonism II,” Stacy-Ann recalls. “We met for the first time while we were on the Tortuga catamaran cruise that O’mar guided.

“Petalyn asked him for the party hotspot, and he recommended Margaritaville. She gave him my number to keep in touch and make plans for the party, which was later that evening. When we arrived at Margaritaville, O’Mar offered us cocktails and we all stood there in the club talking and socialising.

“Petalyn left O’Mar and me to dance with a guy she met that night, so we went down to the beach and sat on the shore talking until daylight. Since then, I’ve been travelling to Jamaica each month to spend time with him.”

The proposal (Stacy-Ann’s version)…

I was in Jamaica for his birthday in December when O’Mar proposed. It was a private proposal. I was lying on the bed, and he told me he had a gift for me. I saw a box in his hand, so, naturally, I was intrigued. When I opened it, I saw my engagement ring. He asked me to marry him, an immediate “yes” followed.

10 for you, 10 for me…

Pastor James Lewis officiated the ceremony, which took place at the New Testament Church of God in Negril.

Parents of the bride Laroune Jones and Carl Jarrett led the processional, followed by O’Mar and his mother Rosemarie Myrie. He wore a three-piece eggshell suit and purple tie paired with a purple boutonnière.

The bridal party followed in step with The Piano Guys’ instrumental of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. The 10 bridesmaids wore one-shoulder purple satin dresses with silver heels, and the 10 groomsmen wore crisp purple vests, and white shirts and trousers.

Stacy-Ann wore a delicate off-the-shoulder Sofia Tolli gown — purchased at Castle Couture in New Jersey — with off-white Badgley Mischka open-toed pumps. The wedding vows exchanged and Pastor Lewis’s pronouncement of Stacy-Ann and O’Mar as husband and wife, Kimberly Jarrett, the bride’s sister, performed a cover of Jamie Foxx’s When I First Saw You while the newly-weds signed their marriage certificates.

Let’s Dance!

The grand ballroom at the Sunset on the Cliffs Resort in Negril was the venue for the reception. The décor, handled by Faithful Wedding Services front woman Faith Freaser, saw crystal vase centrepieces stacked with water beads and purple LED lights, topped-off with kissing balls. Silver Chiavari chairs added a nice pop to the pink and purple theme. A camera was placed on each table for guests to capture the candid moments.

After a sumptuous dinner and heartfelt toasts to the bride, groom and their parents, O’Mar took to the dance floor to serenade Stacy-Ann with 98º I Do (Cherish You). The two shared their first dance as husband and wife to Shanice’s Saving Forever For You.

Mothers of the bride and groom, Laroune Jones and Rosemarie Myrie, unveiled the three-tiered Cakes by Noida cheesecake. Retro dancehall mixes from DJ Ron put guests in a party mood.

The following day, the wedding party set sail on the Tortuga catamaran as a thank you from the newly-weds. The couple spent a six-day honeymoon at Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort.
