Local designer Kadian Nicely hit the right fashion notes when she unveiled her eponymous label at the recently held Saint International Clarendon Fashion Escape; ‘fierce and provocative’ just about sums up the collection. With an aesthetic that mirrors her designer crushes notably Christopher Kane and Iris van Herpen, Italian designer Missoni was uppermost in our minds, however, matched by a haunting gothic edge of the likes of Givenchy.
Nicely cuts for the self-assured woman savvy enough to dispense just the right amount of sex appeal.
Her introduction to the fashion industry came at the age of 17. ” I was a size two,” she recalled, “and walked for Saint International at Style Week Jamaica 2012 … even then my desire was to rock my own pieces,” she informed.
Nicely continued to hone her sewing skills and in time evolved from making clothes for herself to designing for the Kadian Nicely woman. This, she reckons, allowed for a seamless transition into fashion design — her true love. AW Fashion gives you a taste of Kadian Nicely Designs.
