VIDEO: Swimming LAPOSHE

Less than a month after inking a deal with The Flying Solo Collective store and showroom in New York, Camesha ‘Poshe’ Powell, the Rock-born, New York-based designer and creative director of LAPOSHE Swim, has found a new home on The Rock for her line of flowy and sophisticated figure-conscious swimwear, and in perfect timing. Equally impressive is Powell’s vision board for the collection, and her exclusive prints — yes, she designed the prints herself, illustrated by beauties of the sea — colourful corals, the exotic parrot fish, and the starfish.

Powell’s creative influences evoke a timeless tropical elegance designed with exuberance and purpose. An eco-friendly philanthropist herself, Powell has dedicated her work to the preservation of the beautiful beaches and coral reefs of the Caribbean, and donates 10 per cent of proceeds from the profit of all online sales to the non-profit organisation Jamaica Environmental Trust, in aid of environmental protection efforts. “I wanted to design a collection that embodies the free spirit of the beach lifestyle with a sophisticated twist. Inspired by its Caribbean roots and world travels, the line evolves a unique, tropical flair into a globally enticing aesthetic,” Powell explained to All Woman: Fashion (AWF).

Last Thursday, at a Sip and Shop-themed launch, Powell informed AWF that she has been confirmed to participate in the Fashion Institute of Technology Humans Who Design Exhibition, slated for August 4 – September 26 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

LAPOSHE Swim Resort 2016 is now available at the Keneea Linton Boutique at Shop 25, 80 Lady Musgrave Road — as part of Linton-George’s “Caribbean Collective” stock. Sizes range from XS-L.
