Foods for gastritis

I have gastritis and sometimes I’m afraid to eat. What are some foods that wouldn’t cause this condition to worsen?Gastritis is an inflammation or erosion of the lining of the stomach. It can occur suddenly (acute) or gradually (chronic). Symptoms of gastritis may vary from person to person, but may include nausea, loss of appetite, upset stomach, vomiting, abdominal pains, bloating and indigestion.In general, gastritis can be caused by a number of factors including excessive alcohol consumption, stress, medication and vomiting. In addition, gastritis may also be caused by H pylori bacteria or bile reflux. Gastritis should never be taken lightly because it can lead to peptic ulcers, bleeding ulcers, anaemia, gastric cancers and gastric scarring.Gastritis is not usually life-threatening and is normally treated with antacids or other drugs to reduce stomach acids. In a situation where the gastritis was caused by H pylori bacteria, antibiotics are usually taken. Also, other natural remedies such as onion, garlic, cranberry and celery may help to reduce H pylori growth.An appropriate diet can provide relief to people suffering from gastritis. It is very important to have small meals at frequent intervals, and to avoid alcohol, hot and spicy foods, fatty foods and fried foods. Foods which might be irritating to the stomach, for example, lactose from milk and gluten from wheat, should also be avoided. However, foods which soothe the stomach should be incorporated into the diet. These include teas such as green tea and peppermint; fruits such as papaya; yoghurt with probiotics; vegetable juices and soups.It is also important to reduce stress. Doing regular exercise could play an important role in this area.I believe you are afraid to eat in order to avoid further inflammation of your stomach.
