How I got sweet revenge
REVENGE is a dish best served cold, some people believe, delivered after some time when vengeance can be taken dispassionately. And when you’re set on getting your sweet revenge on someone who has wronged you, the depth of the betrayal usually determines the extent of the venom spewed. Betrayal has a tendency to bring out the worst in people, and often reveals what they are really capable of. All Woman asked a few men and women to share their vengeance stories.
Nicole, 35:
I didn’t take revenge personally; karma did that for me, and it was sweet. A few years ago someone borrowed money from me and refused to pay it back. She even began to spread rumours to make it look like I was a terrible person. I decided to leave her to God. Some time after, she was fired for stealing. I heard that they worked out an agreement for her to pay them back.
Romaine, 27:
My best friend slept with my girl, who is now my ex. His sister is the centre of his universe, and he treats her like a glass doll. I started something with her and then cheated on her. That really hurt him badly.
Brianna, 29:
While I was dating my ex, he impregnated his friend, and I was deeply hurt. Rumours were going around that the child wasn’t his, and I made a concerted effort to personally let him know he wasn’t the father. Karma allowed me to get my revenge. You should have seen the look on his face when he found out.
Karen, 37:
My ex broke up with me to be with another girl. He just threw away our five years together for her. I chose to move on, but karma is a real devil. I happened to see him years later while accompanying my husband to an event. He looked stressed and old, and the girl he left me for was busy flirting openly with another man. People say she is giving him hell with certain behaviours, but he doesn’t want to leave her because they have children together.
Michael, 37:
My ex was just using me to get money and other things. It reached a point where she would even open my wallet and take out money. She would even take things from my place. I would be ready to use something and realise that it wasn’t there. I tried to set her up, but it didn’t work. Anyway, about five years later, her new man took money from her account and disappeared with it.
Leanne, 38:
My ex was cheating and wasn’t even making an effort to hide his affair. We had been living together for five years and I guess he wanted out, but was too much of a wimp to do it, so he made my life hell in an effort to make me be the one to end things. But before I actually ended it, I cooked him several meals over the period of two weeks using blended up leftover dog and cat food. So after the dog had finished eating, I’d take the leftover food, filled with slobber, blend it, and mix it in with my ex’s food. Same for the cat — I’d mix in the cat food with tuna and sardines. He ate a lot of meatballs and tuna casseroles in those weeks, and he also had a few stomach issues.
