Vows: Adventure Of A Lifetime

Tricia-Ann Elliott and Gregory Parker exchanged wedding vows on Friday, May 4, 2018, in a charming ceremony on the lawns at Borghinvilla, Discovery Bay.Theirs was a relationship that was forged over long and amicable telephone calls. Indeed, one such call continued into the wee hours of the night. No surprise, really, that romance ensued. There was one snag however; Tricia lived in New Jersey, USA, and Gregory in Costa Rica. When Gregory hopped on a plane a few weeks later it would be the start of a long-distance relationship. One year and hundreds of miles later, including a packed lunch from Gregory with a note that read: “Have a great day, beautiful” Cupid’s arrow had struck — Tricia felt butterflies in her stomach. She was in love.

The proposal (Tricia’s take)

It took some amount of convincing, but Gregory asked me to dress up for dinner at PF Chang’s after his arrival into San Jose on the evening of October 7, 2017. He knows I hate dressing up but we hadn’t seen each other in several weeks so I decided to oblige. We had a lovely time talking and laughing. After dinner, Gregory ordered my favourite dessert: cheesecake. I was in the middle of telling him a story when the waitress brought it, so I scarcely noticed its arrival.

Clearly he did! And me offering him a taste was a lot more important than my finishing the story. I was about to break off a piece when I noticed a ring carefully placed amongst the cheesecake and fruits. There were also two glasses of Champagne. Gregory then got down on one knee and I was so full of emotion I had no idea what he was saying. Everyone in the restaurant started clapping; apparently, they were all in on it and were waiting for me to look down and see the ring. I cried! I’m not sure if I was able to formulate words but I was all smiles and tears.

I Now Pronounce You…

Gregory professed his love for Tricia in the presence of family and close friends on the lawns of Borghinvilla, during a ceremony in which all the guests wore white. Gregory was outfitted in a wardrobe from Macy’s, whilst Tricia was attired in a gown from June Bridals. Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years signalled her entrance. She carried a bouquet of colourful anthuriums, greenery, and dendrobium orchids. The ceremony was officiated by Damion Austin.

Happily Ever After…

The reception took place under a huge tent, and guests were treated to authentic Jamaican vibes including fresh coconuts and live music by Afritech Steel Band. The newly-weds entered to Rockstar’s Post Malone featuring 21 Savage. The evening continued with the unveiling of the two-tiered Jamaican fruitcake by Pansy Burnett and a hearty reception dinner catered by Ms T’s Kitchen. The bride and groom shared their first dance to Endless Love by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie. Following this, guests released lanterns into the sky. The lovebirds then enjoyed a stripped-down relaxed honeymoon at Te Moana Cottage in Ocho Rios.
