Vows — Sinclairs’ Soiree: A Declaration of Love

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

These words by Winston Churchill rang true at the wedding of Michelle Brown and Aggery Sinclair when they announced at their reception that they would be donating 90 per cent of their honeymoon fund to the Food for the Poor to assist a family in Manchester. Michelle, a corporate executive with Wray and Nephew, leveraged the moment by presenting a mock cheque to Catherine Goodall.

This was not the only highlight of the wedding, though, as the trappings altogether made it quite a spectacular affair. The wedding ceremony was held in a slightly dishevelled, garden oasis on the Caymanas Estate apparently cleared just for the occasion. The wispy bamboos and elegant trees created quite a surreal atmosphere with the trappings of modern décor provided by Main Event M-Style, Windsor Ridge and Marsha DeMar.

Two hundred guests were absolutely wooed by the a cappella sounds of boy group Humble who sang during the signing of the marriage register, upstaged only by the bridal party resplendent in shades of blue and peach. The groom, best man and groomsmen were dapper in Carlton Brown-designed blue suits with beautiful arm candies in flowing Vera Wang coral dresses, only outdone by the bride who opted for a simple ivory trumpet silhouette dress with sweetheart neckline and chapel-style train found at Miami-based boutique Bijoux Bridal. The ceremony was officiated by Rev Al Miller, whose easy-going style had the audience and happy couple in stitches throughout.

The reception, dubbed a “Round Robin”, was the perfect blend of corporate-classy and dancehall-fabulous with DJ Liquid of Zip FM at the wheels. The sumptuous Jamaican fare of curried goat, jerk chicken and fish carried no frills, but was simply good comfort food. As expected, the bar had only top-shelf drinks personalised with the couple’s favourite spritzer and the father of the bride’s special rum punch.

Master of ceremonies Marsha Lumley of Tru-juice fame guided the formal proceedings with seamless ease as only close friends do at weddings and the couple’s first dance as Mr and Mrs Aggery Sinclair was boosted by the surprise appearance of Wayne Marshall singing Good Ole Wife and closing a short but lively set with his gospel sensation Glory to God pronouncing further blessings on the couple.

The Sinclairs’ soirée was certainly full of love, music, warmth, gratitude, style and generosity.

I wish them love…
