AW Fashion – Bassano’s Enchanting Escapism

Trinbogonian Stephen Bassano is a graduate of the University of Trinidad and Tobago with a BFA in Fashion Design. Bassano’s eclectic designs and non-conformist attitude to trends secured a spot in the finals of season six — Mission Catwalk Celebrity Edition.

The collection presented by Bassano appeared to reference Nepalese-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung. The collection, titled Escapism, featured pungent pastel hues and gave ‘moveable art’ a new meaning; ie, abstract prismatic brush strokes on select dresses.

Peeks of skin and asymmetry on silk chartreuse dresses, dainty chiffon stripes and bold monochromatic hues were but a few of the show’s memorable highlights. Plus, helium balloons, subtle tulle explosions, and the occasional floor-grazing moment.

Bell sleeves and a flashof colour added a secondand third dimension to thispantsuit, tied together by atulle bow.
