Happy in Love

When Welcome Back Homecare Alternate Administrator Kacian Banton met Global Transport INC CEO Cosburne Omar Wright at the Tax Collectorate Office in Lake Worth, Florida, neither of them knew that it would result in a delightful celebration of their nuptials on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Vows takes you to the altar.

How they met, as told by Kacian

Cosburne and I met in Lake Worth, Florida, at the Tax Collectorate Office. I was renewing my car registration and he was paying a traffic ticket. He sat beside me and started a conversation, after which he wrote his phone number on a piece of paper with the words ‘text me’ (which I still hold onto to this day). Later that day I went to change the tyres on my car. I was bored while waiting so I texted Cosburne to say hi, and he asked me to lunch. I said yes. We went to lunch at Applebee’s in West Palm Beach, where we sat for hours talking about our families, friends and future goals. We went on several dates after and have never been separated since.

Cosburne proposed to me on my birthday in October 2016 on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas Coco Cay private island.

The ceremony

The lawns of the Bridge Palm Hotel, Toll Gate, Clarendon, were the appropriate venue for the springtime in Paris-themed ceremony. Nichelle Thompson and her team from Designs By Nishy used shades of ivory, blush and gold to decorate the space. The bridesmaids made their entrance to Unconditional Love by Jah Cure dressed in blush off-the-shoudler sweetheart-neckline dresses from Madame Bridal. They were escorted by the spiffy groomsmen, who complemented them in dark grey H&M suits and blush bow ties. The bridegroom was dapper at the altar, dressed in a light grey H&M suit and blush bow tie, as he waited for his bride, who made her entrance to the strains of Major’s Why I Love You, escorted up the aisle by her father Linton Banton. Kacian was gorgeous in a David’s Bridal Collection organza mermaid wedding dress with ruffled skirt. In her hands she clutched a bouquet of blush roses.

The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Keith Bulgin and included a sand ceremony to symbolise the joining of the couple’s families.

The reception

…was held inside the executive hall of Bridge Palm Hotel. The space was beautifully decorated by Designs By Nishy with shades of ivory, gold and blush pink. The bridal party danced their way in to Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud and were soon followed by the newly-weds who made their entrance to I Found Love by BeBe Winans. It was now over to the evening’s mistress of ceremonies, Marie Steele, who welcomed guests. Then the couple took the floor for their first dance as husband and wife, to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect. Formalities continued with the cutting of the three-tiered vanilla, red velvet and black forest cake by Danya Ho from Fine Ideas, and a scrumptious three-course meal catered by the Bridge Palm Hotel. Other highlights included the toast to the bride and groom, parents of the bride and groom, the bouquet toss which was caught by the bride’s best friend, bridesmaid Shanika Green, and the garter toss caught by Ronniel Higgins, the groom’s brother.

The honeymoon

The couple will celebrate their honeymoon in May 2019 with a cruise to Cuba and Mexico.
