Empowering adolescent mothers
One of the adolescent mothers at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation has the attention of, from second left, Dr Zoe Simpson, executive director of the foundation; Naketa West, president, Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals Kingston; Dwayne Bailey, distinguished president and chair, investment committee of the club; and Pam Rodney-White, Kiwanis lieutenant governor, Division 23 East, during an event organised by the club in recognition of International Women’s Day. The event, which took place on March 5, was the fourth staging of its kind and was designed to empower the adolescent mothers to pursue their goals and to give them a voice in the conversation of gender parity.
