Secrets for the fountain of youth

Lichelle Palmer

MAINTAINING a youthful appearance involves a combination of good skincare practices, a healthy lifestyle, and, if desired, the use of certain beauty products. Here are some tips from aesthetician Nicola Meredith, if youthful skin is on your agenda for 2024.

3 steps to a good skincare routine

•Use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt and make-up.

•Keep your skin hydrated with a suitable moisturiser.

•Use sunscreen daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

3 anti-ageing products you must use

•Retinoids can help reduce fine lines and improve skin texture.

•Vitamin C serums are known for their antioxidant properties; these can brighten skin and reduce signs of ageing.

•Hyaluronic acid is a hydrating ingredient that can plump and moisturise the skin.

4 healthy lifestyle habits

•Eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants.

•Drink plenty of water to keep your skin well-hydrated.

•Get adequate sleep. Ensure you get enough quality sleep for skin regeneration.

•Get active. Regular exercise can improve circulation and contribute to a healthy complexion.

Mindfulness practices

Practices like meditation and stress management can positively impact overall well-being, potentially reflecting on your skin.

Introduce natural products

Several herbal products are believed to have potential benefits for the skin and overall well-being. These include:

Aloe vera: Known for its soothing and moisturising properties, aloe vera may help with hydration and reducing inflammation.

Ginseng: Believed to have antioxidant properties, ginseng is thought to help combat signs of ageing and promote skin health.

Green tea: Rich in antioxidants, green tea may have anti-inflammatory effects and is often used in skincare for its potential anti-ageing benefits.

Turmeric: Turmeric contains curcumin, known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, potentially supporting skin health.

Rosehip seed oil: Derived from wild rose bushes, this oil is rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids, which can hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
