We Inspire Women ‘Dream & Illuminate with Determination’ vision board workshop inspires young girls to become strong women

YOUNG ladies from several secondary schools in St James enjoyed a day of motivation and inspiration at the We Inspire Women vision board and motivational workshop on January 27.

Held under the theme ‘Dream and Illuminate with Determination’, the activity was hosted at the Hyatt Resort in Montego Bay and was well-attended by students from Spot Valley High, Mount Alvernia High, St James High, Cambridge High, Merlene Ottey High, Little London High, Godfrey Stewart High and the Mannings School.

“It was such an enriching and beautiful experience seeing the young women fully immerse themselves in the activity. For many of them it was their first experience putting together a vision board and they were all excited about putting their dreams and goals on paper,” shared Cortia Bingham McKenzie, founder and CEO of We Inspire Women.

As an advocate for women empowerment and “inspiring young girls to become strong women”, Bingham McKenzie shared that she believes 100 per cent in the power of vision boarding. “I have seen it manifest in my life and the life of so many other people; writing down your dreams and goals works,” she said.

In addition to the vision board activity, the students were able to interact with, and learn from, successful, career-driven women as added motivation for charting their own paths.

Sharing lessons and nuggets about their respective journeys were Nayana Williams, chief executive officer, Lifespan Limited; Camille Moore, brand manager, Serge Dairies; and Dionne Henry, brand manager, This is Really Great Yogurt.

“I am brimming with enthusiasm for the plans I have coming up for the high school tour, which is heavily supported by corporate Jamaica and will be a further pouring out into our young girls, empowering them to be brave and courageous young women and to always dream big,” said Bingham McKenzie.
