#InspireInclusion – SABLE-JOY MCLAREN

SABLE-JOY MCLAREN, SENIOR MANAGER – GROUP MARKETING, FIRSTROCK GROUP

I lead the development and execution of marketing strategies for FirstRock Real Estate Investments, FirstRock Private Equity, FirstRock Foundation, Optimum Distributors & Century 21 Jamaica. I have over 10 years of experience in marketing communications, project management, content development, and digital marketing across various industries, including financial, insurance, retail, and events.

I am passionate about brand storytelling and finding creative ways to communicate the company’s impact and value proposition. I also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency of the brand message and identity.

As a team leader who works with a multitude of people across different companies, it’s super important to me that my team feels included in all our projects and motivated to do their best at all times. Some of the strategies I employ are:

• Open communication — Maintaining an open line of communication by creating a space for open dialogue where everyone on my team feels comfortable sharing their perspectives and opinions.

• Cross department collaboration — I maintain the same approach when working with persons from different backgrounds and areas of focus, as most times they’re able to give fresh perspectives and insights. Also, we work together towards common goals to create a sense of belonging and inclusion for everyone involved.

• Leading by example — I try my best to be the change I’d like to see in my workspace, by showing respect, grace and appreciation to everyone I come across, no matter their background. Being mindful of my words and actions and their potential impact makes this easy.

By staying abreast with industry happenings through podcasts, online forums, mini courses, and certifications. I’m investing in my team by sharing the knowledge I’ve gleaned in one-on-one sessions as well as recommending similar courses and programmes for the team.
